We designed this fire pit to be easy to use and transport. It consists of a separate bowl and unit. A removable shelf lets you divide the unit into two parts as needed, while a side holder keeps your utensils to hand. If you opt for the version without castors, the RABELAIS fire pit comes with height-adjustable plastic feet to protect your floor and stabilise the whole unit.

Rabelais 100 Fire Pit materials and finishes:

• Plancha and central grill (optional): 10 mm thick S235JR steel. As it heats up, the plancha curves inwards to channel cooking fats into the fire.
• Unit: 2 mm thick Corten steel.
• Cooking bowl: 4 mm thick high-temperature powder-coated steel.

Rabelais 100 Fire Pit powder-coated finish:

We apply a black powder to the bowl before heating it to 200 °C, creating a textured, even and durable coating. This non-polluting, harmless process enhances the fire pit’s strength and appearance.

Corten steel characteristics:

Corten steel combines phosphorus, copper, chromium and nickel, allowing it to rust on the surface without affecting its core. This material withstands the weather for decades without deteriorating.

Weathering process:

1. 1 to 3 months: a yellow/orange layer of rust appears. Take care with wooden or concrete terraces: rust run-off may stain the floor.
2. 3 to 6 months: the rust darkens and becomes more resistant.
3. 6 months to 1 year: the colour evens out and the rust hardens, preventing any run-off.
4. 1 to 2 years: the fire pit reaches its final patina, a unique brown specific to each Corten sheet.
