Description
A square Corten steel fire pit for cooking and keeping warm
The Rabelais 80 Corten Steel Fire Pit by INGRILL by INSUN combines a Corten steel base unit with an 80 x 80 cm square plancha. It warms your outdoor space and becomes the meeting point for meals with friends or family.
Technical specifications
- Plancha: 80 x 80 cm square format
- Central grill diameter: 36 cm
- Bowl height: 21 cm
- Weight: 110 kg
- Overall height: approx. 100 cm
- Finish: Corten steel base unit, black powder-coated bowl
A practical, modular design
The fire pit is made up of two separate parts, the bowl and the base unit, which makes it easier to transport and install. A removable shelf lets you divide the base unit in two to store your accessories or firewood, and a side bracket lets you hang your utensils within easy reach.
If you choose the version without castors, height-adjustable feet stabilise the fire pit and protect your floor.
Materials chosen to last
- Plancha and central grill (optional): 10 mm thick S235JR steel for evenly distributed heat. Once hot, the plancha curves slightly inwards so that fat runs off into the fire.
- Base unit: 2 mm Corten steel, which withstands the weather.
- Fire bowl: 4 mm steel with high-temperature powder coating.
The bowl is coated with a black powder baked in an oven at 200 °C. This coating protects against heat and the elements; the process is non-polluting and long-lasting.
Corten steel and its patina
Corten steel contains phosphorus, copper, chromium and nickel. It develops a protective surface patina that prevents deterioration of the core, allowing it to stay outdoors all year round.
- 1 to 3 months: a yellow/orange tint appears. Please note: run-off may stain wooden or concrete floors.
- 3 to 6 months: the patina becomes darker and more resistant.
- 6 months to 1 year: the colour evens out and the run-off stops.
- 1 to 2 years: the base unit reaches its final shade, a unique dark brown.
During the first few months, place a protective mat under the fire pit if your terrace is made of wood or light-coloured concrete.
